What to Expect

It helps to arrive a little early so that your child has time to transition to the library environment. Late arrivals can be distracting for the kids, so please be on time.
While my storytimes may be loosely organized around themes, I prefer to focus on really good books. I incorporate nature and the outdoors into many of my storytimes. We'll also be covering quite a bit of poetry.

Storytime will include longer picture books, songs, creative movement, and fingerplays. Some elements of storytime will repeat from week to week.

Parents are welcome in storytime, but if you're child is comfortable in storytime on their own, you can browse in the library if you'd prefer. In storytime, be prepared to sit on the floor and participate.
Not all kids will sit and listen to the stories. They may wiggle or wander. They might watch the fingerplays but not participate. (They often join in when they are good and ready - that might be next year!)
Remember to check out books to take home each week. Let your child pick one that they would like to read. Plenty of books at home helps to create a favorable environment for the process of learning to read!
